Abstract:This is one of six case studies exploring regional cooperation among transportation operating organizations. These studies, developed in conjunction with the National Dialog on Transportation Operations, document alternative approaches for developing and sustaining regional transportation operations and portray institutional practices and lessons learned. They provide exaIT1ples of experiences that reflect National Dialog goals of fc1eilite1ting cultural transitions within transportation operating entities that are driven by system performance and customer service measures. They are intended to serve as a resource guide for decision-makers as well as transportation management and operations staff. The six case studies associated with this project are TRANSCOM in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut; TransLink in Vancouver, British Columbia; The Metropolitan Transportation Commission in the San Francisco Bay Area; The ITS Priority Corridor in Southern California; TranStar in Houston; and AZTech in Phoenix. Case studies were selected to present a variety of approaches that differ in regional size and characteristics, organizational structure, scope, and geography. An executive guide highlights the findings and perspectives of the six case studies.
