Abstract:This report provides noise data for the Integrated Noise Model (INM) and is referred to as data base number nine. Air-to-ground sound level versus distance data for civil (and some military) aircraft in a form useful for airport noise contour computations are provided over a distance range from 200 to 25,000 feet in terms of three noise measures: sound exposure level (SEL), effective perceived noise level (EPNL), and maximum A-weighted sound level (ALM). Data are included for all major civil transport and general aviation airplanes in widespread use in the USA, and for several military airplanes typical of those currently operated by the Air National Guard or Air Force Reserve. The sound level versus distance function were generated by the procedure specified in Society of Automotive Engineers Aerospace Information Report 1845. The data from which these functions were developed are those used previously in the 1980 data base plus additional measured data on airplanes which have entered service in the past five years.
