  • Abstract:
The TITAN project, now in its second phase, is a cutting-edge, interactive web-based framework designed for the warehousing, integration, analytics, and visualization of transportation data. This phase has successfully implemented resilient and scalable database architectures, enabling rapid storage and retrieval of massive datasets, which are critical in handling diverse transportation data such as crash reports, weather conditions, probe data, connected vehicles, work zones, and crowd-sourced information. By integrating these datasets at scale, TITAN provides a comprehensive view of transportation networks, facilitated by newly developed fast APIs that ensure seamless data exchange with external sources. The user experience has been significantly enhanced through a simplified, user-centric interface that streamlines complex data querying, making it more accessible to users with varying technical expertise. The platform's advanced visualization tools allow for interactive data exploration, with cross-filtering across multiple layers and the ability to visualize extremely large datasets, up to 32 GB, using GPU distribution directly in the web browser. These capabilities are crucial for real-time data analysis and decision-making, particularly for over 160 current users, including DOTs, counties, and municipalities. To ensure data security and manageability, a refined administrative interface allows easy user management and role assignment, protecting sensitive information. TITAN exemplifies a state-of-the-art solution in transportation data analytics, offering powerful tools for informed decision-making and strategic planning in the transportation sector.
