Abstract:Each month the Department of Transportation releases an Air Travel Consumer Report that includes information about various service quality elements, including flight delays, mishandled baggage, over sales, and a variety of other types of consumer complaints. In response to an increasing number of inquiries from consumers about domestic airline prices the Department’s Office of Aviation Analysis decided to release a quarterly fare report. The first such report, for the third quarter of 1996, was released in June 1997.
