Abstract:

This document describes a plan for the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) to promote wider deployment of SmartPark systems. A SmartPark system is a system that provides truck drivers with real-time parking information. The plan maps out barriers to deployment, including financial, institutional, technical, and user-acceptance considerations, along with means of overcoming or mitigating these barriers. The plan concludes with nine recommended steps to accelerate SmartPark system deployment.
