Abstract:Connected vehicle wireless data communications can enable safety applications that may reduce injuries and
fatalities suffered on our roads and highways, as well as enabling reductions in traffic congestion and impacts on
the environment. As a critical part of achieving these goals, the U.S. DOT contracted with a Team led by Battelle
to integrate and validate connected vehicle on-board equipment (OBE) and safety applications on selected Class
8 commercial vehicles and to support those vehicles in research and testing activities that provide information and
data needed to assess their safety benefits and support regulatory decision processes. Driver Clinics are being
conducted as a part of this project to evaluate acceptance of the connected vehicle technology and safety
applications by drivers who are previously unfamiliar with the technology.
This document describes the hardware to be installed in Integrated Trucks, how it will be installed, and how this
installation will be tested.
